Delete your account
This page explains how to delete your account in Pilotta.io, the card game on Google Play and at pilotta.io. The game is made by Stelios Michailidis, in Cyprus.
The quickest way: in the game
- Open the game and tap your name at the top of the home screen (on a computer, you can also use the “Log in” or “Account” button at the bottom of the menu on the left).
- At the bottom of the window that opens, tap Delete my account.
- Read what will be deleted, and tap Delete for good.
The account is deleted at once, and the game tells you when it is done. This works for every kind of account — a guest account, or one you sign in to with an email and password, Google or Discord — in the Android app and in the game at pilotta.io/play/. You need an internet connection. You do not need to give a reason.
If your game shows a “Delete my account” link that opens this page instead of a button, you have an older version: update the game, or write to us as below.
If you cannot use the game: write to us
If you no longer have the game, or the button does not work for you, write to pilottos.io@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my account”. You do not need to give a reason.
- If your account has an email address (you signed in with an email and password, with Google or with Discord), write from that address. That is how we know the request is yours.
- If you only ever played as a guest, tap your name at the top of the game’s home screen (on a computer, you can also use the “Log in” button at the bottom of the menu on the left), then copy your player code (it looks like A1B2-C3D4) into your email. Also tell us roughly how many coins you have and your level, so we can check that the account is yours.
We then delete the account within one month of your email, usually much sooner, and write back to tell you it is done.
What we delete
- Your account: its account number, and your email address and password if it had them.
- The name you show at the table.
- The backup of your progress: level, coins, decks, tables, phrases and settings.
- The record of the days you opened the game, and of how you first reached us.
- What the check on your progress backup keeps about your account: the record of any corrections, its pacing line, any gift or repair we noted by hand, the note that your account collected the Founder deck, and the record that your account received the welcome gift.
- Your name on the results of matches you played. The results stay, because they are the other players’ history too, but your name is replaced by a neutral one (“Player”).
- If your account has a confirmed email address: that address on our email list and on the Founder list, if it is there. The Founder deck goes with the rest of your progress, and signing up again later does not bring it back.
- If you write to us and ask, we also remove an address that has no account, or one that was never confirmed (for example, one you gave us only for news). If you have not collected the Founder deck yet, you lose it.
- If you delete from inside the game: your progress on that device too (see below).
- If you ask: your address on the list of addresses that Resend, the company that sends our emails, does not write to again (because an email to you could not be delivered, or you marked one as spam).
Signing in with Google or Discord also left a record with that company that you use Pilotta. Deleting your account here does not change their records; you can remove Pilotta from the connected apps in your Google or Discord account settings.
Guest accounts nobody uses
If a guest account (one with no email address) has not been used for 12 months, we delete it automatically, without waiting to be asked. We delete the same things as above: the account, the name shown at the table, the backup of progress, and the name on match results, which becomes “Player”. This includes an old guest account left behind when you later signed in with Google, Discord or an email address, and the account of a guest who simply stopped playing.
On your phone or computer
If you delete from inside the game, the game also clears its own copy of your progress on that device — level, coins, decks, tables, phrases, your name and your recent games — and keeps only settings such as sound and game speed. The next time you open the game on that device, it makes a new, empty guest account, as it does on any device opened for the first time.
On another phone or computer where you were signed in to the same account (email, Google or Discord), the game’s copy stays on that device until you uninstall the app or clear its data there. It is not carried into a new account: that device starts afresh the next time it goes online.
If you wrote to us instead of using the button, we do not touch your devices. The game keeps its own copy of your progress there; to remove it, uninstall the app, or clear its data in your phone’s settings. If you keep the app and play online again, what happens depends on the account we deleted. If it was a guest account, the game makes a new guest account and backs up whatever is still on the phone. If it had an email address (email and password, Google or Discord), the progress on the phone is not carried over: you start afresh.
Android’s automatic backup to your Google account leaves the game’s progress out, so reinstalling the app does not bring it back. Only a move to a new phone that you start yourself, with your phone’s own transfer tool, can still carry it across.
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account on our side. Deleting it in the game, or asking us, does. Otherwise, a guest account goes after 12 months without use, and an account with an email address stays until you delete it. An address never confirmed is removed 7 days after sign-up, and the account then counts as a guest account.
What we keep, and for how long
- A record of how hands were played in online matches. It carries no name and no account number. Kept for up to 2 years.
- Recordings of games against the computer in the game on the website (pilotta.io/play/ in a browser; our apps never record), if you agreed to recording. They carry no name, no account number and nothing else that tells us who played them, so we have no way to find yours and cannot delete them on request. To stop new ones, use gear button → Profile & Preferences → Record my games vs the computer. Kept for up to 2 years.
- The game server’s technical log, which notes the name and account number of whoever connected, and when. Kept for up to 30 days.
- Our backup copies of the database. Your account disappears from them as they are replaced: after 60 days, no backup holds it.
- If you wrote to us: your email asking us to delete, and our reply, as a record that we did it. Kept for 12 months. If you deleted in the game there is no such email; we keep only how many accounts were deleted each day (guest accounts and the others counted apart), with no account number, name or address. Kept for 400 days.
- If you deleted in the game, for 60 days: a scrambled copy of the account number and the date, nothing else. It cannot be turned back into the number. We use it for one thing: if we ever have to restore the database from a backup, it lets us find your account and delete it again straight away.
- The record that Resend, the company that sends our emails, keeps of each email about your account (such as the one with the link that confirms your address): your address, the date, whether it arrived, and a copy of the email. Each record deletes itself 30 days after the email was sent. If you want it gone sooner, write to us and we will ask Resend to remove it.
- For a guest account deleted automatically, or at your request by email (not one you delete in the game): a scrambled copy of its account number and the date we deleted it. Nothing else. The scramble cannot be turned back into the number, but a phone that still holds the number can be matched to it, so we treat it as information about you. We use it for one thing: if you come back, the game can move the progress still on your phone to a new guest account. Kept for 24 months. Accounts with an email address are never on this list.
Deleting only part of your information
If you want to keep your account but have something deleted or corrected, write to the same address and tell us what.
